OBVERSE OF JEWEL A nice silver Past Master's Jewel suspended from a sky blue ribbon by two silver bars. The top bar has the name of the Lodge: "Iveagh Masonic Lodge" The bottom bar has the number of the Lodge: "No. 184" The Compass and Square is a nice standard silver Past Master's Jewel with a fixed "G".

2. SHORT HISTORY OF WARRANT No. 184.
Warrant No. 184 issued to brethren in COOTEHILL, Co. Cavan, on the 10th September 1748. Warrant No. 184 was removed to DRUM, Co. Monaghan, on the 6th July 1780, but returned to COOTHILL, Co. Cavan, about 1802. Warrant No. 184 was removed to DRUM, Co. Monaghan, between 1806 and 1811. Warrant No. 184 Surrendered in 1906. 3. HISTORY OF IVEAGH LODGE No. 184.
The Minutes of the Grand Lodge Board of General Purposes dated 29th March 1909 show concerning Warrant No. 184 - "29 March, 1909 - Read Memorial from Bros. Weir, Dennison, Banks and 17 others praying for a warrant to establish a Lodge in Maralin in the County of Down to be called the Iveagh. Recommended by Lodges 134, 335, 151 and by the P.G.M. and P.D.G.M. of Down. – Recommended" The Recommendation of The Board was followed,as is shown in the Grand Lodge Minutes of 3rd June 1909 as "Confirmed" Warrant No. 184 reissued to Edward Weir (Lodge 151), James S. Dennison (Lodge 151) and John Banks (Lodge 335) to form `Iveagh Lodge' in MARALIN (i.e. Magheralin), Lurgan, Co. Armagh, on the 5th June 1909. Series four Vol. 13 of the extant Grand Lodge Registers shows:- "Re-issued Warrant No. 184 to Maralin, Co. Down as “Iveagh Lodge” 5 June, 1909 - Edward Weir, Farmer (151); James S. Dennison, Manufacturer (151) and John Banks, Tailor (335) registered along with seventeen others from various lodges, registered 5 June, 1909. No indication as to Master or Wardens." A Special Communication of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Down was held in the Weir Masonic Hall, Maralin 24th June, 1909. The Lodge was opened in due form on the First Degree at 2 o’clock p.m. The following Officers were in attendance:- R.W. Bro. Col. Sharman Crawford, DL., P.G.M R.W. Bro. F.C. Crossle, MB., D.P.G.M. Glenny, DD., P.G. Chaplain W. Bro. Alex. Jamison, P.G.S.D. W. Bro. Henry Keers, P.G.J.D. W. Bro. Jno. W. Bassett, P.G. Supr. of Works W. Bro. Jno. McCandless, P.G. Dir. of Cer. W. Bro. Jas. Gilmore, P.G. St. W. Bro. Samuel C. Cupples, P.G. Sword Bearer W. Bro. James Finney, P.G. Org. W. Bro. Geo. Breen, P.G.I.G. R.W. Bro. J. Hunter Barrett, P.P.G. Secretary W. Bro. D.H. Johnston, Rep. G.L. of Ireland Apologies for non-attendance were received from a number of brethren The Officers of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Down had been specially summoned to Dedicate new premises, the Weir Masonic Hall, erected and equipped by Bro. Edward Weir in memory of his brother Frank for the use of the Brethren in Maralin and at the same time to Constitute “Iveagh” Masonic Lodge No. 184. The Ceremony of Dedication of the new Hall and Constitution of the new Lodge was performed by the Provincial Grand Master (R.W. Bro. Col. R.G. Sharman Crawford) assisted by his Officers according to ancient Masonic custom and Ritual. W. Bro. D.H. Johnston, Representative to the G.L. of Instruction, installed and obligated the new Worshipful Master of “Iveagh” Masonic Lodge No. 184 after which the Provincial Grand Master initiated the Officers of the Lodge. At the conclusion of the Ceremony the Provincial Grand Master delivered a very appropriate address to the Brethren present referring in eloquent terms to the generosity of the Weir family to Masonry, specially to the newly installed Worshipful Master who had built and equipped at his own expense for the Brethren of Maralin the Hall that had just been dedicated. A collection on behalf of Masonic Charities was taken up which amounting to £4. 17s. 6d. The Provincial Grand Lodge was then closed in ancient form Peace, Love and Harmony prevailing, after which the Provincial Grand Lodge Officers and visiting brethren were most hospitably entertained by the Brethren of “Iveagh” Lodge 184. [Included in the circular calling this meeting the P.G. Sec. included the following – Train will leave G.N. Railway Station, Belfast at 11.30 o’clock a.m., arriving in Lurgan at 11.56; the return train will leave Lurgan at 5.57 o’clock p.m., arriving in Belfast 6.50 p.m.] Extract from the Provincial Grand Lodge Minute of the 10th August 1909. “Moved by R.W. Bro. F.C. Crossle, MD., P.D.G.M. and seconded by Bro. H.H. Mussen and resolved ‘That this Provincial Grand Lodge desires to take the earliest possible opportunity of placing on record its sincere and grateful appreciation of the action of Bro. William Weir and his sister, Miss Annie Weir, in having erected the Masonic Hall at Maralin, dedicated on the 24th of June last, St. John’s Day, by our Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master for the accommodation of Lodge 184.’ The Right Worshipful Grand Master conveyed the resolution of the Provincial Grand Lodge to Bro. Weir, Bro. Hu. Hayes suitably responded on his behalf.”
Belfast Newes Letter "Weir Memorial Masonic Hall, MARALIN Dedication Ceremony The handsome and commodious hall recently erected in the village of Maralin for the accommodation of the Freemasons of the district was dedicated to the services of the craft on Thursday afternoon under most encouraging auspices. As our local readers are aware, the structure occupies an ideal site on a gentle elevation at the Moira end of the village. It sits some thirty feet from the Belfast road, quite near to the new Orange Hall, and commands an extensive prospect of one of the most fertile and best wooded sections of Ireland's premier county." [The article continues with a description of the hall and lists the brethren attending and lodges represented - Iveagh Masonic Lodge No. 184 was represented at the ceremony.]
There is no entry for the 1914 -18 War. A total of 91 brethren registered up to the 21st September 1923. In most cases the dates when the issue of certificates is shown, together with the occupation of the brother. Series five Vol. 18 shown as Vol. 2 of the extant Grand Lodge Registers commences with the registration on affiliation of David Domigan (145), Tenter, registered here 21st November 1924.
Belfast Telegraph ~ 13th September 1926. "Masonic Service at Maralin. A Masonic service was held in the Parish Church, on Sunday, 12 September, under the auspices of Iveagh Masonic Lodge No. 184." Two photographs are included in the reference,

A total of 117 brethren registered up to the 20th February 1984. In most cases the dates when the issue of certificates is shown, together with the occupation of the brother. From 1984 the registration of members of Iveagh Masonic Lodge No. 184 is held, in alphabetical order, in a computerised register by Grand Lodge, Freemasons’ Hall, 17 Molesworth Street, Dublin 2. The Registration of the Worshipful Master, Wardens and Secretary of Lodges are held in separate Registers, the first Volume covering the period 1983 to 1994 inclusive and the second Volume covering from 1995 to date.
