1. DESCRIPTION OF JEWEL.

Tyrian Masonic Lodge No. 415

   OBVERSE OF JEWEL

A superb quality gold Compass and Square Past Master's Jewel suspended from a single bar and sky blue ribbon .

Tyrian Masonic Lodge No. 415

The Jewel comprises of a normal Compass and Square, which is gold, with a "G" suspended, which is also gold. The handle of the Square is engraved with eight shamrocks. The top bar is engraved with eight shamrocks.

The quality of this Jewel is excellent having been made by the well known Dublin Silversmiths Messrs W. Stokes & and Son of Dublin.

REVERSE OF JEWEL

 The reverse of the Jewel bears the inscription :

"Presented to

W.Bro. Charles Niblock W.M. 1931

by the Brethren of the Tyrian Lodge 415"

The Maker's Mark on the reverse of Jewel is "WS".

 2.  HISTORY "TYRIAN" LODGE                           NO.415

                              1925 - 1988

 

 The Minutes of the Grand Lodge Board of General Purposes   dated   3rd November 1924 show concerning Lodge 415 -

 "3 November, 1924 - Read Memorial from various brethren  praying for a warrant to establish a Lodge in Dublin in the  County of Dublin to be called "the Tyrian". Recommended."

 The recommendation of The Board was confirmed by Grand  Lodge on 4th December 1924.

 Warrant No. 415 reissued to `Tyrian Lodge' in  FREEMASONS   HALL, MOLESWORTH STREET, DUBLIN, on  21st January 1925.

 Series five Vol. 19 shown as Vol. 3 of the extant Grand  Lodge   Registers shows -

"Warrant No. 415 to Dublin as “Tyrian   Lodge”,21 January,1925 with the following Brethren registered, namely,William J. Burns,Company Director (426);Robert Stevenson, Cashier (426) and William Jackson,Bank Clerk (245) registered along with 15 others from Various lodges, registered 21st January,1925."

 A total of 103 brethren registered up to 10 November 1952. In most cases the dates when the issue of certificates is shown, together with the occupation of the brother.

 A total of 26 brethren registered up to 11 October, 1982.  In   most cases the dates when the issue of certificates is  shown, together with the occupation of the brother.

 Records in the custody of the Grand Lodge the following:-

 6 Minute Books covering the period 1925 to 1988

 5 Attendance Books covering the period 1935 to 1988

 Officers Register 1925 to 1988

 The last registration of Officers is shown as 1988 as the  Minutes of the G.L. Board of G.P. in regard to Lodge 415  state -

      "10 November, 1988 - The Board noted with regret        for reporting to Grand Lodge the decision of the        Brethren of  Lodge No. 415 Dublin to return the        Warrant to Grand Lodge."

WARRANT NO. 415 LABOURED ON AND OFF FROM 1764 TO 1988 SOME 224 YEARS.
