1. "The Irish Master Masons Hand Book"

       By Bro. Fred. J. W. Crowe,

          P. Prov. G. Org., Devon, etc.;

 Published in 1895 by George Kenning,  Masonic  Suppliers.

The author Bro. Fred. J. W. Crowe originally penned "The Master Masons Hand Book" for the English Constitution and then followed with this edition for Irish Masons ( a Scottish edition was also published by Bro. Crowe. )

It is a very interesting book and whereas it was available to purchase from Messrs George Kenning it is the type of book that should be presented to Brethren upon receiving their Third Degree.

  [Laurence Dermott]

2."Notes on Laurence Dermott and His Work"

        By Witham Matthew Bywater, P.M., (1)

           Royal Athelstan Lodge No. 19.

 Published privately by the said Author in 1884.

I have included this book on Laurence Dermott and his involvement in the Antient Grand Lodge of England as he is probably one of the most famous Freemasons who ever lived, primarily for his authorship of "Ahiman Rezon" or "A Help to a Brother" and he was an Irishman.

Laurence Dermott was born in Ireland in 1740. He was initiated in Lodge 26 in 1740 and according to a minute in the Antient Grand Lodge records: `Lodge 26 was held in Dublin at the house of Thomas Allen, afterwards Past Master of No. 2 Antients. Charles Byrne, Sen., installed Dermot as Worshipful Master of the Good Lodge No. 26 on 24 June 1746.'

     [footnote 1]

 Witham Matthew Bywater was Past Master of Royal  Athelstan Lodge No. 19. The author had  an interest in  Laurence Dermott as Dermott was a Member of  Lodge 10,  which Warrant was purchased by Royal  Athelstan  Lodge  (then No. 159 ) in 1792, which it retained until the  Union,  when it became No. 19.

3. "Freemasonry in Society Today and        Tomorrow"

           By R.W. Bro. Michael W. Walker.

R.W. Bro. Michael W. Walker (Grand Secretary 1981 - 2005) put his "Personal  Musings" to paper when he was Grand Secretary to The Grand Lodge of Ireland. Bro. Walker's contribution to Irish Freemasonry has and continues to be immense and  he is well respected not only in Ireland but the four corners of the globe.
